MME enters into MoU with Qatari Diar

Under the patronage and presence of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Subaie, Minister of Municipality and Environment and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) signed this morning (Thursday) a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company at the headquarters of the Ministry located on Corniche street. The MoU was signed regarding a mechanism for revoking the condition preventing the disposal of lands allocated by the state for citizens and transferring them to private lands in the areas of Al-Khuzama and Al Nafl (Ijarah) and Qetaifan South Islands in Lusail City, or the introduction and mortgage of private lands under the housing regulations.

The MoU was signed by the Director of Lands and Survey Department, Mr. Mohammed Abdulrahman Al-Abdullah on behalf of MME, and by the Chief Development and Asset Management Officer – Qatar, Eng. Yousef Abu Bakr Al-Musleh, on behalf of Qatari Diar. The signing of the MoU comes within the framework of the existing cooperation between both sides in the field of developing and allocating land and real estate in the country.

 

The agreement will be for a period of five years, subject to renewal, and it includes the possibility of disposing of lands in the areas of Al-Khuzama and Al Nafl (Ijarah) and Qetaifan South Islands in Lusail City for the purpose of establishing residential buildings characterized by an architectural character consistent with the general plans of the Lusail City project, so that they are listed in the housing systems according to applicable laws in the State of Qatar. The project aims to provide suitable residential areas where citizens and their families can live a decent life.

 

In his speech during the signing ceremony, the Director of Lands and Survey Department, Mr. Mohammed Abdulrahman Al-Abdullah stressed that MME seeks, through the signing of this MoU, to increase and provide the finest residential areas for the welfare of citizens, by ensuring the selection of housing areas for citizens in modern cities that reflect the real estate development in the country and follow the directions of the State of Qatar related to creating modern and sustainable cities in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
