Ministry of Social Development and Family Concludes Participation in LDC5 Exhibition

Doha, March 09 (QNA) – The Ministry of Social Development and Family, Qatar Social Work Foundation and the centers under its umbrella concluded their participation in the exhibition accompanying the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5).

The ministry’s participation was in an awareness exhibition to introduce its services and objectives to achieve sustainable development and accelerate comprehensive growth in the social fields and to support the target groups of society, especially the elderly and people with disabilities.

The Ministry affirmed its keenness on the need to strengthen cooperation and partnership with the United Nations and in all humanitarian fields and pointed out that many countries of the world, especially the least developed countries, are in a race against time to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals at various social, economic and environmental levels by 2030, making it necessary to create a new global partnership that ensures keeping pace with events and not being left behind.

The ministry said in a statement that this participation is an opportunity that is available only once every ten years, to accelerate sustainable development in the regions most in need of international assistance, benefit from the full potential of the least developed countries in a way that helps them advance towards prosperity and exchange experiences to accelerate the pace of work towards achieving Vision 2030.

The Ministry expressed hope to achieve great progress in its social development and to provide support, expertise and successes achieved by the Ministry to the least developed countries during this participation, out of its firm belief in the importance of this cooperation, especially in light of the current challenges the world is witnessing.
