Ministry of Economy and UAE Embassy in Tokyo hold promotional tour to promote economic cooperation between the UAE and Japan.

Round one of a tour promoting investment in the UAE has kicked off in Japan, with the participation and organisation of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

During the tour, which visited the Japanese cities of Osaka, Fukuoka and Tokyo between October 11th and 13th, the UAE delegation, which was represented by the UAE Embassy in Tokyo, and the Ministry of Economy, met with more than 300 investors and businesspeople from small and medium enterprises. Joining them were delegates from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The UAE delegation was headed by Mohammed Al Zaabi, Director of Trade Promotion and Investment at the Ministry of Economy, and Khaled Omran Al Amiri, UAE Ambassador to Japan.

The tour, which is part of a series of planned visits, aimed to enhance UAE-Japan cooperation through highlighting the UAE economy, its vital investment sectors, particularly in the areas of energy, industry, education, health, food and halal food, tourism, innovation and entrepreneurship. It also clarified laws and legislation for foreign investment in the UAE.

The delegation began its visit to Osaka, the second largest city in Japan, where it met with businessmen from the region, including Shosuke Mori, Chairman of the Kansai Economic Federation, who acknowledged the importance for economic and business, and investment circles in the Kansai region to explore investment opportunities in the UAE.

A session was also held at the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce, which was opened by the UAE Ambassador who praised the strategic relations between the UAE and Japan. Al Amiri also highlighted the keenness of the leaderships of both countries to continue developing bilateral relations through a long-term and comprehensive strategy of cooperation to promote mutual interests and realise future aspirations.

Also speaking was the Director of Trade Promotion at the UAE Ministry of Economy, who presented an overview of the UAE economy, its diversity and competitiveness, the opportunities and sectors available for investment, and the volume of Japanese investment in the UAE, pointing out that the volume of Japanese investments in the UAE reached US$ 3.935 million by the end of 2015, with 88 Japanese trading companies registered in the UAE, and 207 Japanese commercial agencies, and 9,792 Japanese brands.
