Lebanon fails to elect pres. for 37th time

BEIRUT, March 23 (KUNA) — Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Berri on Wednesday delayed today’s session for electing a new president for the country to April 18th, according to media sources.
The session was postponed for the 37th time due to lack of quorum, as only 86 out of 128 MPs were present.
At least 86 MPs of the 128 must be present in line with the country’s constitution.
Lebanon has been without a president since May 25th, 2014, when the six-year term of former president Michel Suleiman ended. (end) mah.mt
