Launching 20 New e-Gates is under Process

Khalid Al Buainain, Assistant Director of Airport Passports Department, revealed that the Department is working on opening 20 new electronic gates at Hamad International Airport (HIA), with 10 gates at the Departures Hall, and at the Arrivals Hall. He called passengers from the residents to use the electronic gates to facilitate the completion of their travel procedures without having to stand long in the passports counters waiting for officers to verify the passenger’s personal data and to place the stamp of arrival or departure on the passport.

He pointed out that it is possible to complete all these procedures automatically through the system of electronic gates at a record speed and in the context of privacy, security and safety. He explained that HIA has 40 electronic gates, 19 electronic gates in the arrivals hall and 21 gates in the departure lounge. He pointed out that the Airport Passports Department has set up a counter to the gates to facilitate procedures for travelers who are hindered in using them.
