Launch of TAMM Volunteering Network to Promote Participation in Community Work

In partnership with the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC), the Social Development Center (Nama), Silatech Organization, and Education Above All Foundation, through Reach Out to Asia (ROTA), launched the volunteer network (TAMM). The launch of the Network was held on the occasion of the 3rd Annual Forum of Qatar Social Work Foundation, which was held at the Qatar National Convention Center in the presence of senior officials and those interested in social work.

This network comes in response to the efforts of the State of Qatar to expand participation in community work and to raise awareness among young people about the importance of volunteering at the level of individuals and institutions. TAMM will contribute to the establishment of a volunteer database, link volunteer leaders to voluntary institutions in Qatar, provide technical support, and build youth capacities to meet the needs of volunteer work. It also aims to raise the values of solidarity and synergy among young people and youth and to develop their abilities to contribute to the service of the society.

Mr. Hassan Jassim Al Sayed, Assistant Undersecretary for Information Technology Affairs at MOTC, said in a press statement that the Ministry’s participation in launching the TAMM network for volunteering comes from its keenness to cooperate with various entities in Qatar and to support all initiatives of social and volunteer work as it is the primary and complementary partner of governmental and official efforts to serve all segments of society.

He pointed out that the Ministry’s patronage of this Network stems from its belief in the importance of harnessing information technology in the launch of electronic platforms that provide databases for volunteers and connect them to opportunities in various fields in a safe and effective manner, in line with Qatar Digital 2020 Strategy. This is in addition to the Ministry’s plans and objectives to promote community work in all possible ways.
