Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, today held a remote meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of the Information and e-Government Authority (iGA), Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed.
They discussed developments regarding the launch of the Employability Skills Portal (ESP), which will contribute to developing educational and training programmes for students, as well as hone their skills, in a way that would meet the needs of the labour market in the future.
They stressed that the Labour Ministry should provide iGA with the necessary data regarding the main skills and jobs required by the labour Market, which will enable ESP to chart out the future policies of government institutions and higher education establishments, as well as develop the educational output so as to serve the needs of Bahrain’s labour market.
The two sides underlined the importance of concerted efforts in order to speed up the completion of the pioneering national project, launched in line with the directives of Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, to encourage digital transformation and make optimal use of modern technology in providing databases with strong foundations and standards that will contribute to the future direction of the Kingdom’s labour market.
Humaidan highlighted the Labour Ministry’s keenness to enhance its cooperation with iGA in order to complete the project, noting that the launch of ESP will impact positively on the labour market, as it will provide detailed, accurate and updated information related to the labour market, as well as provide the necessary indicators and information that pave the way for determining the real needs for qualified workforce in the present and future, in addition to improving the outputs of education and training commensurate with the labour market’s needs.
iGA chief said that the portal will use the artificial intelligence and cloud computing technologies, which will contribute to achieving a set of goals, including saving time and effort, rationalising expenses, and providing an absorptive capacity that allows all beneficiaries to view the information available through the platform at the same time.
