Kuwaitis eager to compete at Dubai-based educational award

KUWAIT, March 5 (KUNA) — The Ministry of Education stressed on Saturday the importance of taking part in the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance.
Teams representing Kuwait in the Dubai-based Award, taken from among students, teachers, and school administrations, have been involved in an extensive process of vetting in preparation for the 19th holding of this highly-coveted educational award in the GCC region, said Award coordinator in Kuwait Mansour Al-Daihani in a press statement.
He said the committee he supervises for the preparation of the Award is currently awaiting the announcement as to the winners of the 18th edition of the Award who will get their accolades in a ceremony in Dubai next April.
He urged students, teachers, and school administrators seeking to take part in the 19th edition of the Award to equip themselves well for the fierce competition ahead. The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance is a government entity that is responsible for upgrading academic performance for all educational entities under the UAE Ministry of Education. It was created in March 1998, by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the UAE Minister of Finance. The Award seeks to improve the quality of the educational system and encourage initiatives, innovation and excellence in all literary and scientific domains. Initially limited in scope to Dubai, the Award was expanded to cover all the emirates, followed by the GCC countries. (end) mrf.ajs
