By Redha Sardar KILIS, Turkey, March 26 (KUNA) — The International Islamic Charitable Organization in Kuwait has concluded the second stage in its winter project or campaign to come to the aid of Syrian refugees in Turkey and in Syria.
The aid project, launched under the slogan “We stand with you” involves giving aid at a value of USD 600,000 to internally displaced persons (IDPs) inside Syria and USD 150,000 to Syrian refugees in the southern Turkish city of Sanliurfa, said the Organization’s director Salem Hamada, in statements to KUNA.
For the IDPs inside Syria, up to 11,000 aid packages will be distributed to them, consisting of items for children, mattresses, bags of flour, among other necessities, said Hamada.
For the refugees in Sanliurfa, 3600 food packages will be distributed to them and monetary amounts will be handed to 500 orphans, in addition to providing the refugees with recreational activities and psychological counseling, said the director.
He added that later on today, a village named after His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will be officially opened in Sanliurfa for the housing of the refugees in that city. (end) rs.ajs
