Riyadh – The General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will organize, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in the State of Kuwait, the second forum for organizing and developing voluntary work in the GCC countries on Sunday.

The two-day forum aims to come up with a joint executive action plan for the GCC countries to prepare and formulate joint work programs and joint projects and to define the nature and mechanisms of partnership and coordination between government and private bodies, international organizations and institutions and members of civil society in GCC countries. It also aims to identify national, regional and global experiences in this field.

Six working papers from the GCC countries will be presented during the forum sessions, in addition to a paper from the European Union in voluntary work and another from the United Nations on volunteerism. Red Crescent societies in the GCC countries will also present a paper on the efforts of the Red Crescent Societies in voluntary work.

The Forum will discuss a number of key themes, including the organizational structure of joint volunteer work, laws and legislation, community awareness development, training and qualification, information, scientific research and development, financial and technical support.

The Forum also focuses on proposing an operational plan for joint cooperation in the field of volunteerism in the GCC countries and discuss a number of aspects of this plan related to the general framework for joint cooperation in the voluntary work of the GCC States.

The forum is expected to witness the participation of about 200 officials, experts, specialists and volunteers from the GCC countries in the field of volunteerism. (QNA)
