NEW YORK, June 16 (KUNA) — The State of Kuwait played an active and effective role in the activities of the ninth session of the conference of state parties to Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, held between June 14 and 16, the country’s representative said Thursday.
Speaking to KUNA following the closing ceremony of the gathering, Rehab Bouresli, member of the Higher Council of the Public Authority for People with Special Needs Affairs, said that she reiterated Kuwait’s full commitment to the provisions of the UN Convention.
“Through participation in such an international gathering we seek to share experience with friendly countries for the benefit of people with special needs and facilitate their integration into the society,” she pointed out.
Bouresli noted that Kuwait was one of the earliest countries that founded organizations to care for people with special needs and protect their rights.
She added that she invited the participants in the just-ended gathering to attend the GCC forum, to be hosted by Kuwait in March. (end) mao.gb
