FLORENCE, Italy, March 26 (KUNA) — Kuwait’s Ambassador to Italy Sheikh Ali Khaled Al-Jaber Al-Sabah discussed bilateral ties with the Kuwait-Italian Friendship Society.
Al-Khaled, in remarks made on the occasion of the annual meeting held by the Society, appreciated initiatives of the group, especially the ones aiming at solidifying friendship between the two peoples.
He voiced pride over holding the annual meeting in the culturally-rich city of Florence, which embraced the Society since its establishment more than 25 years ago.
On his part, Chairman of the Italian-Kuwaiti Friendship Society Pierre-Andre Fanni welcomed attendance of Ambassador Sheikh Ali Al-Khaled to the meeting in Florence, which witnessed the first “spontaneous public initiative” to show solidarity with Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion in 1990, and gave Florence a pivotal role in nourishing ties between both countries.
The meeting was attended by Florence Mayor Dario Nardella.
Having recently celebrated the 51st anniversary of establishing full-fledged diplomatic relations, Kuwait and Italy have long enjoyed a cordial and enduring relationship. (end) mn.hb
