Kuwait: Israeli illegal policies torpedo two-state solution

New York, Kuwait voiced deep concerns over Israel’s illegal policies that threatened complete collapse of two-state solution, with occupation authorities’ systematic assaults and violations of Palestinian people and their rights.

“It is totally unacceptable that the Israeli occupation authorities continue these violations without being held accountable due to Security Council’s inability to hold the occupation authorities responsible for failure to implement its resolutions,” Kuwait’s permanent representative to UN Mansour Al-Otaibi told a Security Council session on situation in Middle East.

“It is unacceptable that it has been 25 years since the Oslo agreement and we fail to act towards a comprehensive and just peace for this cause, which is the core of the Arab Israeli conflict,” said Al-Otaibi, adding that The Israeli aggression jeopardized “any genuine opportunity for peace.”

He pointed out that the Israeli occupation authorities carried, throughout 2019, arbitrary arrests, destroyed and confiscated Palestinian properties thus displacing tens of Palestinian families.

Israel, he added, was building thousands of settlement units on occupied lands in the West Bank, expanding existing settlements in occupied East Jerusalem and forcing displacement of Palestinian civilians in a blatant breach of UNSC resolution 2334.
