KUWAIT, Jan 28 (KUNA) — Kuwaiti officials have demonstrated their commitment to linking Egypt and Kuwait electronically to ease the importation of Egyptian labor to the Kuwaiti marketplace, said a visiting Egyptian minister on Thursday.
Jamal Suroor, Minister of Manpower in Egypt, said in a press statement after meeting with Kuwait’s Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hend Al-Sabeeh, that he discussed with the Kuwaiti minister and other officials on labor affairs the status of the Egyptian workforce in Kuwait.
He commended Kuwait’s efforts at hosting Egyptian workers and at improving working conditions for them, including easing the process of acquiring permits to leave the country from their Kuwaiti employers.
He emphasized his agreement with Kuwaiti officials on the need for electronic linkage between labor officials in both countries to insure that Egypt sends to Kuwait well-trained and skillful workers who would be able to enhance the performance of the labor pool in Kuwait.
On her part, Al-Sabeeh stressed Kuwait’s seriousness about the electronic linkage by saying that a Kuwaiti delegation had been sent last week to Egypt to work on that mutually important proposition. If this idea of the linkage worked efficiently with Egypt, she said, Kuwait would afterwards apply it with other countries that regularly send workers to Kuwait.
She lauded the cooperation of Egyptian officials with their Kuwaiti counterparts on resolving any snags in labor issues pertaining to both of them. (end) mth.ajs
