IRBIL, June 19 (KUNA) — Masoud Barzani, president of Kurdistan region, north Iraq, received a joint Iraqi-US delegation on Sunday to discuss the plan to liberate Mosul city from the so-called Islamic State (IS).
The discussion dealt also wish the efforts to promote the security cooperation and remove understanding between Baghdad government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), according to a statement by the Kurdistan presidency.
The Iraqi-US delegation included the Iraqi national security advisor Faleh Al-Fayyadh, and the US Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter IS Brett McGurk, Ambassador to Iraq Stuart E. Jones and Consul General in Irbil Matthias Mitman, as well as several security and military top brass from both sides Barzani told his guests that his government and the Peshmerga forces, as partners of the Iraqi forces in the fight against the IS, will back up the campaign to recapture the city of Mosul from the militant group.
