Khalifa Foundation accomplishes Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Oxford

WAM ABU DHABI, 5th August, 2013 (WAM) — The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation announced the completion of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Oxford in the UK in the framework of its vision for the spreading of Islamic culture and understanding between religions in different parts of the world.

The project aims to promote the spirit of harmony, increase the places of worship and invite people from different cultures to understand the basic principles of the religion of Islam.

The UAE has funded the mosque while governments of other countries contributed actively to establish parts of the Islamic Center. This can be seen as a real project and as a model for international cooperation that promotes cultural exchange and respect for the beliefs and traditions in foreign countries.

Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, Director-General of Khalifa Foundation said that “Islam is one of the most fastest growing religions in the world and this project is contributing to the definition of this true religion and help create an environment in which everyone can benefit from the rich-heritage religion.

He added that Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Oxford is not only a place of worship, but also an ideal environment for the growth of ideas and the exchange of knowledge.
