Kerry, Saudi deputy crown prince discuss range of regional issues

WASHINGTON, June 14 (KUNA) — Secretary of State John Kerry hosted Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Monday for an iftar dinner in recognition of the deputy crown prince’s visit to the United States, the State Department announced on Tuesday. “The two reviewed the strong and enduring relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia, and discussed a broad range of regional issues, including Yemen, Syria, Libya and countering terrorism,” said the statement from department spokesman John Kirby.
They also discussed the Kingdom’s plans to transform its economy through its National Transformation Program, Kirby said.
“Finally, the two discussed this weekend’s shooting in Orlando, and expressed their shared commitment to continue their cooperation in combating the spread of violent extremism, both regionally and internationally,” he said. (end) rm.ajs
