Jordan, Algeria talk cooperation in women’s issues, social development

Jordan’s social development minister and the Algerian ambassador in Amman Monday discussed cooperation between the two countries’ social development ministries in women’s issues and social development. Jordan’s Minister of Social Development, Wafa Bani Mustafa, discussed Jordan’s efforts in social protection and the “importance” of exchanging expertise and experiences between the two countries in policies, strategies and legislation regulating social work, especially those enhancing productivity, reducing poverty and cash aid programmes. Bani Mustafa talked about giving priority to family and childhood issues, persons with disabilities, and the De-Insititutionalisation (De-I) process for children in need of protection and care, fostering and institutional and home nurseries. Algeria’s ambassador to Jordan, Abdulkarim Behha, lauded Jordan’s expertise in social protection, adding that “the Jordanian efforts in this field are pioneering at the regional level.”
