JAPAN, QATAR WIN AGAINST S. KOREA, OMAN IN 17TH ASIAN MEN’S HANDBALL

MANAMA, Japan and Qatar won their matches against South Korea and Oman respectively on Saturday as part of the 17th Asian Men’s Handball Championship.

The event, to last until January 28, also serves as qualifier for the 2017 Men’s Handball World Championship in France.

The matches, of Group A, saw Japan beat South Korea 31-25 and Qatar easily winning against Oman 37-17.

Group A includes Qatar, South Korea, Oman, Japan and Syria, while Group B includes Bahrain, Lebanon, China, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Iran.

Qatar already qualified for France 2017 as World champion’s runners up.

Four more teams will find the place in the global tournament to be held in January 2017.
