JAPAN, QATAR TO COOPERATE IN AIR QUALITY MONITORING

DOHA– Qatar and Japan announced that they will cooperate in air quality monitoring by carrying out related experimental study, Qatar News Agency said Wednesday.

The study, which is expected to be completed at the beginning of next year, is part of a joint project launched between the two sides to enhance technological capabilities of monitoring environment.

A Qatari high senior official stressed the importance of cooperation in the field of environmental monitoring in order to achieve sustainable development.

Meanwhile, he added, the Japanese devices will be installed in air quality monitoring stations of Qatari environmental monitoring department in the next few days.

Qatar and Japan have established strong ties in the energy and infrastructure sectors and signed a number of agreements in various areas, including defense, sports, information and communications technology.
