Iraqi forces take measures ahead of protest

BAGHDAD, March 18 (KUNA) — Iraqi government forces blocked roads and bridges around the “green zone” on Friday after chief of “Al-Sadri trend,” Muqtada Al-Sadr, called for protests at the location, the Interior Ministry said.
The Ministry explained that it had given no permits to stage demonstrations outside the zone, out of keenness on public security, law and order.
Al-Sadr has called on his followers to hold the protest outside the “green zone” to press the government conduct speedy reforms. He also urged them to abstain from “provocative actions.” (end) ah.rk
