Indian Embassy celebrates its 70th National Day at the Phoenicia Hotel

Marking the 70th National Day of his country and the end of his term of office in Lebanon, Ambassador Sanjiv Arora held a reception at the Phoenicia Hotel in the presence of Caretaker Defense Minister Yacoub Sarraf representing President Michel Aoun, MP Ali Osseiran representing House Speaker Nabih Berri, Caretaker Tele-Communications Minister Jamal al-Jarrah representing Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri, Deputies Kassem Hashem, Fuad Makhzoumi and Mohammed al-Hajjar, as well as a crowd of prominent political, security, military, religious, social and media figures.

The Ambassadors of the United States, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Bangladesh, China, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Serbia and Iraq also attended the event.

Following the Lebanese and Indian national anthems, the Indian Ambassador addressed his honorable guests in expressing his sincere greetings to the government and people of Lebanon.

He also delivered words inspired by a song by Lebanese renowned singer, Fayrouz, in Arabic, after which he honored the singer, Abeer Nehmeh, for presenting songs in the Indian language as a token of appreciation and friendship between the people of Lebanon and India.
