The death toll from flash floods in the Teesta river in Sikkim State, northeast India, rose to 14 on Thursday, in addition to at least 26 people injured.
The Sikkim government said that 102 persons are currently missing, including 23 Army personnel.
The floods were triggered by a glacial lake outburst in northern Sikkims Lachen valley.
The disaster, which took place on Wednesday, has affected more than 22,000 people, according to the authorities. It has also left over 3,000 tourists stranded after the floods washed away the main highways and bridges.
Authorities warned the rescue operation would be challenging as more rain was forecast in coming days and mobile and phone lines continued to be down.
