IhsanoIlu says grateful for support

ISTANBUL (CIHAN)- Ekmeleddin IhsanoIlu, the joint candidate for presidency of several opposition parties, welcomed the election result on Sunday night, saying the nearly 40-percent support he got was a “very significant figure.”

“It is an answer to those who said a month ago, when we first started our election campaign, that nobody even knows IhsanoIlu,” he told reporters after the vote, which, according to unofficial figures, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ErdoIan won.

“I want to express my gratitude for those who supported me, all the political parties and the army of volunteers,” he said.

According to unofficial figures, ErdoIan secured 51.5 percent of the votes, while IhsanoIlu followed with 38.6 percent.

elik: ErdoIan president of the 100 percent

Huseyin elik, deputy chairman of ErdoIan’s Justice and Development Party (AK Party), said in remarks after the election that even though he got about 52 percent of the votes, ErdoIan will be the president of the 100 percent of the society.

“The election is over and hopefully everything people said about each other will be a matter of the past too,” elik told reporters.
