Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has received international recognition for its commitment to patient care and safety by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), thus, acknowledging the excellence of the higher medical education programs at HMC.

As part of the recognition, Dr Abdullatif Al Khal, Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Director of Medical Education at HMC, was presented the Physician International Award, at a ceremony organized by ACGME in Florida to honor the physicians who made outstanding contributions towards ensuring and improving the quality of graduate of medical education and the residence doctors.

Five fellowship programs and 14 residency programs at HMC have been accredited by ACGME-I, the international arm of ACGME. HMC is the first healthcare organization outside the US and Singapore to achieve ACGME-I accreditation; additional residency and fellowship programs will go forward for accreditation in 2018 and 2019.
