The Pulmonary Diagnostic Care Laboratory, at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), has achieved the American Thoracic Society (ATS) Registry certification, indicating that the Laboratory has strict adherence to the highest international standards of administering pulmonary function tests (PFTs).

Concerning the driving force behind efforts exerted to join the ATS Registry, Dr. Ahmed Al Mohamed, Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation, said that the Department of Medicine has been operating the PFT Laboratory for 35 years and that about 12,000 procedures are annually conducted at PFT labs in the different HMC facilities.

He noted that improvements in respiratory disease diagnosis and management has led to providing diagnostic laboratory services, which has greatly contributed to delivering better patient care.
