KUWAIT, June 6 (KUNA) — His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah met at Seif Palace on Monday with Director-General of Kuwaiti Municipality and Chairman of the Science Club Ahmad Abdullah Al-Manfouhi and the club’s deputy chairman Talal Jassem Al-Kharafi, board members and winners of Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) awards During the meeting, His Highness the Amir congratulated the winners and urged them to continue working hard to win more awards in all fields in order to better promote the nation at international gatherings, wishing them more progress and success.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah.
Following the meeting, Al-Manfouhi said he was pleased to meet with His Highness the Amir and appreciated his supportive role for young people and their inventions.
He boasted that Kuwait is now well-positioned to win international awards in different domains, saying that Kuwaiti winners of awards in the US and Geneva are a source of pride to Kuwait and its people.
He highly commended His Highness the Amir as the key supporter of inventions and patents, noting that Kuwait is now the Gulf leader in view of the number of patents thanks to the support and efforts of His Highness the Amir, Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science (KFAS) and Science Club.
The winner Suleiman Adel said he was so happy to win the ISEF award in Arizona, adding that he had contested the competition through a solar energy project, which would be very useful to all Arab countries and even solar energy-using nations.
The contestant Yusuf Abdullah Al-Tawrah voiced pleasure to meet His Highness the Amir as an incentive for joining more world competitions.
The contestant Abdulrahman Al-Jassem said he had joined the competition through a car tire reuse project, and thanked His Highness the Amir for his attention and support. (end) mt
