HE Sheikh Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani: New State Property Law will Organize Farms

Doha, November 24 (QNA) – HE Sheikh Dr.Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani, Director of the Ministry of Environment’s General Administration of Agricultural Research and Development, on Saturday announced that the state property new law, which is in the process of getting final approval, will give the Minister of Environment power to issue a binding decision by law to organize farms in Qatar.
Dr. Faleh bin Nasser said that the Minister of Environment’s decision which will have the power of law, will cover many aspects of the irregularities on farms, particularly the violation of agricultural activity.
“Some farms’ owners do non-agricultural activities in their farms, which is a clear violation”, he said, noting that 99% of these activities have to do with establishing housing facilities for workers, commercial stores and industrial workshops.
Dr. Faleh bin Nasser added that offenses varied between small and medium ones and happened in 71 out of 1400 farms, noting that no steps were taken so far against these farms to remove construction irregularities. Services were temporarily suspended against violating farms as an administrative measure.
The Director of the Ministry of Environment’s General Administration of Agricultural Research and Development further said that 70 to 80 percent of these problems and irregularities are resolved through the law regulating buildings.
HE Sheikh Dr.Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani went on to say that past farms regulation laws did not clearly address such offenses because they did not exist back then, noting that most irregularities occurred during the past 15 years. (QNA)
