HE Jassim Al Sulaiti: Qatar will contribute to shaping the future of global postal sector

HE Mr Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport and Communications, has said that the State of Qatar will contribute to shaping the future of global postal sector for the better after winning a seat on the Council of Administration of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). This has come during the elections held on the sidelines of the 27th Universal Postal Union Congress in the Abidjan city, the Republic of Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire).

HE the Minister added that the postal sector is constantly evolving with the growth of e-commerce globally, which leads to the emergence of new issues and challenges for all parties, regulatory bodies and postal institutions worldwide. Thus, more cooperation and coordination between the UPU and the effective postal sector stakeholders is needed, as the Minister said.

Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Mannai, President of Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), who led the State of Qatar’s delegation during the Congress, noted the role that the State of Qatar would play through contributing to overseeing the UPU’s activities and studying relevant regulatory, administrative, legislative, and legal issues, which will have a direct impact on the development of the postal sector in the State and other local sectors associated with postal services. Thus, the consumers will receive more advanced and high-quality postal services, as he said.
