HE Al-Nasser Receives UPF Leadership and Good Governance Award

 New York, November 17 (QNA) – The prestigious Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Leadership and Good Governance Award was presented to HE Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, the High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations of the United Nations, in a big ceremony held in New York last night in recognition of his achievements during his presidency of the 66th session of the UN General Assembly and his efforts in promoting peace and security over long years of long years in multilateral diplomatic work. President of the Universal Peace Federation Dr. Thomas Walsh and UPF Secretary General Taj Hammad underlined that HE Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Nasser was nominated for the award based on his leading role in promoting dialogue among cultures and civilizations through mediation to resolve disputes by peaceful means; thus, promoting peace and security in the international arena. Meanwhile, current President of the UN General Assembly Vuk Jeremic praised the achievements accomplished by HE Al-Nasser during his presidency of the UN General Assembly in a year that was full of challenging issues. For his part, HE Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Nasser expressed gratitude for this honor, stressing the importance of the role played by non-governmental institutions in parallel with the UN role in promoting peace and overcoming cultural barriers. Then, he presented an overview of the most important achievements he succeeded in achieving throughout a year of hard work. The Leadership and Good Governance Award is presented by the UPF Peace Federation to people manifesting standards of excellence in leadership, integrating professional expertise and practical wisdom with moral and spiritual principles.
