Prime Minister Saad Hariri received today at the Grand Serail the Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon Ali bin Hamad Al Marri and discussed with him the situation in Lebanon and the region, a statement by Hariri’s press office indicated on Tuesday.

Hariri also received a delegation from the European Baptist Federation, led by its Secretary General Revd.

Anthony Peck, in the presence of MP Bassem al-Shab and the Secretary General of the Evangelical Schools in Lebanon Nabil Costa.

After the meeting, Revd. Peck said: “The delegation is visiting Lebanon to participate in the Middle East Conference organized by the Arab Baptist theological seminary and the Middle East Studies Center entitled “the Church in Disorienting Times”.

He added that he praised the efforts of Prime Minister Hariri to make Lebanon a safe place for all its faith communities, and congratulated him on the recent electoral law that would strengthen democracy in Lebanon.

He said that Hariri underscored the importance of openness, acceptance of the other, and promoting the culture of peace despite all challenges.

Hariri asked the delegation to help in creating more awareness about the uniqueness of Lebanon in the Middle East, especially in the current circumstances. He also asked the delegation to take humanitarian initiatives to support programs for the displaced.
