His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al–Abdullah Al–Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry, met today with Italy’s Minister of Economic Development, Giancarlo Giorgetti, and the accompanying delegation currently visiting the country.
During the meeting, officials touched on the bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed aspects of joint cooperation in the trade, investment, and industrial fields, as well as ways to enhance and develop them. The meeting also discussed trade policies between the two countries, and pointed out the efforts exerted by both to confront the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the meeting, H.E. the Minister of Commerce and Industry highlighted the economic policies Qatar had put in place to support the private sector, including the incentives, legislation, and investment opportunities made available in Qatar to companies wishing to take advantage of all that Qatar has to offer.
Trade and investment ties between Qatar and Italy have witnessed significant growth. The volume of trade exchange between the two countries amounted to about 1.946 billion USD from January to August 2021. Italy ranked as Qatar’s 8th trading partner in 2020.
