Global Humanitarian Forum praises Kuwait's support for Syrian people

LONDON, Jan 31 (KUNA) — The Global Humanitarian Forum praised Sunday the prominent role of Kuwait in the international humanitarian action, especially through its efforts to support the Syrian people.
“Kuwait had succeeded in hosting three donor conferences to mobilize international donations for the benefit of Syrians”, Chairman of the Forum, Dr. Hani Al-Banna said in a statement to (KUNA), adding that Kuwait will share its expertise and cooperation by participating at the 4th Conference in London.
He said that the 4th donors conference will be held in London next Thursday, and will be co-chaired by the UK, Kuwait, Germany and Norway, and a wide international participation will attend as a humanitarian response to support millions of vulnerable Syrian refugees.
Al-Banna added that “another aim of the conference would be “to identify longer term approaches and funding, which will help to create education and opportunities for the millions affected across the region”.
The donors conference on Syria and the region in London will also urge participating countries to double the amount of money they are giving to tackle the humanitarian crisis in Syria.
Kuwait hosted the previous three conference for donors to support the humanitarian situation in Syria, which gathered a total pledges of more than USD 7.7 Billions, of them USD 1.3 Billion by Kuwait.(end) mrn.haq
