GCC States Celebrate International Anti-Corruption Day

Riyadh, – GCC states are taking part in the global celebration of the International Anti-Corruption Day, which falls on December 9 of every year, by organizing a series of awareness events on protecting integrity and combating corruption.

On this occasion, HE Ambassador Hamad bin Rashid Al Marri, the GCC assistant secretary general for legislative and legal affairs, praised the achievements that GCC states have made in this field through establishing independent bodies on integrity protection and combating corruption as well as joining concerned conventions and effectively participating in global and international events.

As for joint work, Ambassador Al Marri said GCC states are currently working on a Gulf agreement on combating corruption among member states as well as a draft law on the protection of public funds in GCC states in addition to guide principles of exchanging expertise and experiences, whose execution mechanism was ratified. It aims to raise the capacities and skills of concerned entities and their personnel through training and exchanging practical and scientific expertise.
