WAM RIYADH, 8th September, 2013 (WAM) — Dr. Abdul Latif Bin Rashid Al Zayani, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf has expressed the concern of the GCC member states at the escalation of the Syrian crisis which is now threatening the regional security and stability because of the intransigence of the Syrian regime.

Mr. Al Zayani said that the GCC states also voiced their strong condemnation of the criminal acts and inhuman practices the Syrian regime is committing against its own people, calling the international community to urgently interfere to rescue the Syrian people of the brutality of the Syrian regime and put an end to their painful suffering and plight.

He said that the Syrian regime is fully responsible for what has been going on in Syria for its rejection to all Arab and non-Arab initiatives made to resolve such a crisis and its ongoing practices of killing, genocide and the use of the internationally prohibited chemical weapons which claimed hundreds of innocent people.

The GCC member states fully support the international measures being adopted to deter the Syrian Regime and prevent it from continuing its repressive, immoral and inhumane practices.
