Riyadh, – The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid AI Zayani and the Director of IGAD Centre for Pastoralist Areas and Livestock Development (ICPALD) Dr. SJ Muchina Munyua signed here today a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the mechanism of cooperation between the General Secretariat of the GCC and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and means of enhancing and developing their cooperation relations in the interests of the Member States of the two sides.

The memorandum stipulates that the two sides will hold regular consultations to discuss any issues agreed upon by the two sides within the framework of the dialogue and regional and economic issues of common interest, and propose appropriate mechanisms, in addition to enhancing cooperation in cultural and other subjects.

The Secretary-General of the GCC said that the signing of the MoU affirms the two sides’ keenness on developing their common relations in various fields and their desire to expand areas of cooperation and consultation to achieve the common interests of their member countries.

He added that the GCC countries are always seeking to build bridges of cooperation and development with various regional and international bodies and organizations. (QNA)
