GCC Aspires to Promote Dialogue with International Community to Serve Peace, Stability, Says Secretary-General


Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi stressed that the GCC looks forward to enhancing dialogue with the international community to achieve global security and stability, as well as resolve all disputes through peaceful means based on the rules of international law and United Nations charter.



During his participation virtually in the meeting of the North Atlantic Council of NATO and Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI), Al Budaiwi pointed out that the potential cooperation between the GCC General-Secretariat and NATO has maximum significance, especially since there are available opportunities to actively engage in strategic and constructive partnerships and dialogues with its members.



He recalled the pivotal role played by the NATO-ICI Regional Centre in bolstering collective understanding of NATO’s role, as well as the importance of cooperation with NATO in the region.



He reviewed the positions of GCC states on regional and international issues, underscoring their role in achieving global security and welfare that are informed by development, prosperity, and stability.



Al Budaiwi highlighted the regional and international status the council has attained until became a powerful voice at the global forum with robust partnerships with all key players in the world, making it capable of resolving some regional and international conflicts.



He said the GCC General-Secretariat looks forward to extending cooperation with NATO through a multitude of joint interests that serve the issue of regional and international peace and stability, in addition to welcoming all proposals generated by NATO on cooperative endeavors in the agreed fields.
