Four new Iranian banks connected to SWIFT – official

TEHRAN, March 16 (KUNA) — Iranian Foreign Ministry Director General for Political and International Affairs Hamid Baeedinejad announced Wednesday four other Iranian banks have been connected to Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT).
In a press statement, He stated that SWIFT has announced the connection of the four national bank after completion of the procedure for registering with it.
He identified that the four banks as Mellat Bank in Yerevan, Tejarat Bank in Dushanbe, Bank Melli Iran in Baku and Iraq.
Baeedinejad said that 26 Iranian banks have been re-connected to SWIFT so far. He said that seven other Iranian banks have applied for reconnection.
The move followed last year’s nuclear agreement between Iran and the P5+1 group. (end) fz.ibi
