Doha – HE Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani opened today the meeting of heads of Qatar’s diplomatic and consular missions abroad.

HE the State Minister for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and HE the Foreign Ministry’s Secretary-General Ahmed Hassan Al Hammadi are attending the meeting along with Their Excellences Directors of Departments in the Foreign Ministry, and Their Excellences Heads of diplomatic, consular and representative missions of the State of Qatar abroad.

During its seven sessions, the meeting will discuss a number of issues and topics including regional and international developments, the foreign media discourse of Qatar, the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, international cooperation activities and the diplomacy of Qataris development and relief assistance.

The two-day meeting aims to identify the pillars of the diplomatic discourse of the state in the light of the guidelines of the Qatari foreign policy, and in light of regional and international changes. It also aims at determining Qatar’s positions on regional and international issues in accordance with its foreign policy and according to regional and international circumstances and developments and developing the tools and mechanisms of diplomatic discourse in addition to promoting the work environment and performance in the Ministry’s General Office and in the diplomatic, consular and representative missions of the State of Qatar to achieve quality and excellence in diplomatic performance.

The meeting is to discuss also ways to establish the global image of the State of Qatar, as a power for good and peaceful conflict resolution, and as an active partner of the international community in building world peace and to promote this image in the foreign media in accordance with the general guidelines of Qatar’s political discourse, in addition to developing the role of the Foreign Ministry in achieving Qatar National Vision 2030.
