HE Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met today with HE Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan Kentaro Sonoura.
The meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and Japan, especially in the field of economy and investment and ways to strengthen and develop them, as well as issues of mutual interest.
HE the Foreign Minister briefed the Japanese official on the latest developments of the Gulf crisis and all the illegal measures taken against the State of Qatar by the siege countries.
HE the Foreign Minister expressed Qatar’s thanks for Japan’s position towards the current Gulf crisis, calling for dialogue among all parties to resolve the crisis, urging unity among the GCC states and supporting Kuwaiti mediation.
HE the Foreign Minister praised the joint economic and investment cooperation between the two countries especially in the field of LNG, affirming commitment to continue to provide a stable supply of energy and meet all the needs of Japan.
For his part, HE the Japanese Prime Minister’s Advisor praised the depth of the Qatari-Japanese relations and his aspiration for further partnership between the two friendly countries. He stressed the importance of keeping the unity of the GCC countries to maintain peace and stability in the Middle East. He stressed the importance of resolving the issue through dialogue, reiterating Japan’s support for the Kuwaiti mediation.
