FIRST ROUND OF NEGOTIATIONS FOR QATAR-EU COMPREHENSIVE AVIATION AGREEMENT CONCLUDED

DOHA, – The first round of negotiations for comprehensive aviation agreement, between the Civil Aviation Authority of the State of Qatar and the European Union (EU) concluded Wednesday.

The negotiations aimed at reaching a comprehensive air transport agreement, to regulate aspects of air services and

the rights of air transport between the State of Qatar and the EU member states.

The Qatari side was chaired by Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority, Abdulla bin Nasser Turki Al Subaey, and attended by Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways Group, Akbar Al Baker.

From the EU side, it was attended by head of the international transport affairs of the EU Commission, Carlos Acosta.

The two sides reviewed, during the meetings, hosted by Doha over the past three days, the provisions of the proposed comprehensive agreement and also discussed them in detail, to reach a common understanding.

They agreed on the need to complete the negotiations, in the subsequent phases of the negotiations, to finalise the comprehensive air services agreement, between the State of Qatar and the European Union.
