First LNG ship from Qatar arrives at Port Qasim

The first ship carrying approximately 141,000 cubic metre Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from Qatar berthed at Port Qasim here on Tuesday.

The ship, Al Gattara will transfer gas from floating terminal to the Sui Southern Gas Company’s system within seven days. Chairman Port Qasim Authority (PQA) Agha Jan Akhtar has said that every month four LNG ships will arrive at Port Qasim.

Four new LNG terminals will be installed at Port Qasim for this purpose.

Last month, both Pakistan and Qatar during Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visit had signed $ 16 billion LNG deal.

Under the agreement, 3.75 million tonnes of LNG will be imported annual for 16 years from Qatar on government-to-government basis.
