WAM ABU DHABI, 6th September, 2013 (WAM)–Under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Al Noor hospitals have organised the first International Nursing Conference of Al Noor Hospital (INCAN), entitled: “Safe Nursing Practice, Building, Promoting Quality and Excellence.”

Held on Sept. 6 at the Abu Dhabi Women’s College, the event drew over 400 nurses nationwide to announce the setting up of the Nursing Academy at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in cooperation with Al Noor Hospitals Group. The move aims at encouraging Emirati cadres to join the profession.

This was announced by Dr Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor of the HCT in his key inaugural speech. Dr Kamali stressed the significance of joint cooperation to increase number of Emirati nursing cadres. He highlighted the importance of nursing services in the health sector, being a vital element in rendering the health services. Dr Kamali noted that the state takes much interest in developing the health sectors.

For his part, Dr Kassem Alom, the Group Chief Executive Officer and president of the conference, thanked Sheikh Nahyan on sponsoring the conference and his continuous support to the continuous education in all sectors. He also commended Dr Kamali over the coordination regarding the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two parties last March on the hosting of the conference at the Abu Dhabi Women’s College.

He said the nursing in the past focused only on the safety of patients through follow up and giving medicine in time, but now includes the coordination and quality in order to provide direct and better services.

The conference focused on the safety of patients, errors, accountability, justice and legal aspects in the field of nursing.
