Explosion in Egypt kills 2 officers, injures five others — Ministry

CAIRO, Jan 29 (KUNA) — Two Egyptian police officers were killed and five others were injured late Thursday due to an explosion which occurred in Arish city, North Sinai governorate, said the Interior Ministry Friday.
The Interior Ministry said that the police was searching for the masterminds behind the incident, adding that security forces were combing the area for any additional explosives.
According to initial investigations, masked gunmen planned a number of explosives near a security checkpoint in the city. The explosion caused damages to nearby property. The injured policemen were rushed nearby hospitals for treatment. (end) asm.gta
