EX MISS, SEEYOUBYME, OFF HE GOES and AL SHAMAN win features

Hassan Ali Alabdulmalik’s EX MISS (Excelebration x Miss Starlight) raced to her second straight C&D victory at the Al Rayyan Park turf track winning the T/B PEARL (THOROUGHBRED (Fillies & Mares) (Class 2) Fillies & Mares ONLY) on Thursday. In the 2000m race, Ryan Curatolo helmed the 4yo yet again and the duo won a duel with Al Wasmiyah Farm’s STAR OF WAR (Declaration Of War x Sunshine For Life) by a neck. Adrie De Vries helmed the Georges Mikhalides-schooled filly, while JP Guillambert guided the Gassim Mohammad Ghazali-trained ROMANTIC HEART (Dubawi x Love Charm) for the mare’s third straight frame finish.

Barring a miss in the Qatar Derby a month ago, Hassan Ali Alabdulmalik’s SEEYOUBYME (Siyouni x Peinted Song) has progressed well since a winning debut on dirt last month. Ridden by Ryan Curatolo for the fourth straight time, the Deborah Amanda Clare Mountained-trained gelding topped the T/B CLASSIC RACE (4yo THOROUGHBREDS (Class 2)) in fine fashion. The gelding beat Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s SAM LANGFORD (Footstepsinthesand x The Silver Kebaya), ridden by JP Guillambert for Gassim Mohammad Ghazali by a length and a quarter while the Mohammed Gassim Ghazali-trained ZAMHARER (Olympic Glory x Strawberrydaiquiri), helmed by Theo Bachelot in the colours of Sheail Bin Khalifa Al Kuwari, completed the top three by ahead.

OFF HE GOES (Casino Prince x Perfectly Stunning) was the third straight winner on the day for the colours of H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani, trainer Julian Colin Smart and jockey Tomas Lukasek. The gelding topped the KHOR AL ADAID CUP (QA Gr3) (4yo & older THOROUGHBREDS (Class 1)) for his first black-type victory beating Umm Qarn’s four-time winner DUKE OF DUNDEE (Duke of Marmalade x Santa Louisia) by a nose at the post. The Ronan Thomas-ridden 8yo gelding edged out Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s MASTERPIECE (Mastercraftsman x Modern Eagle) by three-quarters of a length for the runner up spot.

H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s AL SHAMAN (War Front x Communique) had signalled a return to form when he finished in the frame two weeks ago. In the AL AREEQ CUP (THOROUGHBREDS (Class 2)) on Thursday, the Julian Colin Smart-trained 6yo entered the winner’s circle at Al Rayyan Park for the first time in a little over a year. Helmed by Tomas Lukasek, Al Shaman won the miler by three-quarters of a length, leading a sweep for colours with the Stefano Ibido-trained VERANDA (Canford Cliffs x Visinada) finishing second under Ronan Thomas and Al Shahania Stud’s QATARI GOLD (Lemon Drop Kid x Forest Valentine) third Luca Maniezzi.

After closely missing out on a Group 2 win last time round, H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s EBRAZ (Amer x Massamarie) raced to a hat-trick of sorts in the PUREBRED ARABIAN CONDITIONS on Thursday. Julian Colin Smart’s ward has now won the 1850m race for the third straight year. In the latest edition of the race, Tomas Lukasek helmed the multiple Group 1 winner to a fine win, beating the Alban Elie Marie De Mieulle-trained Chamekh by a length.

Qatari jockey Meteb Ali Al Marri continued with his promising season when he raced his sixth winner of the season, which is more than all his wins coming into the ongoing season put together. The apprentice rider guided Mohammed Ali Yousef Al Sheeb’s KASSER (AF Albahar x Wujdan) to a C&D victory for the second time this season. On Thursday, in the six-furlong LOCAL PUREBRED ARABIAN CONDITIONS, Kasser won narrowly by a neck.

A week after moving ownership with a claiming race victory, the Majed Mahadi Seifeddine-trained ENNAB (Munjiz x Areej) entered the winner’s circle yet again, this time in the colours of Rakan Khames Abuzulf. Helmed by Ronan Thomas for the first time, the gelding narrowly edged out the Gassim Mohammad Ghazali-schooled Muthhil, winning the LOCAL PUREBRED ARABIAN HANDICAP (85 & below) with a quarter of a length to spare.

Abdulatif Hussain Al Emadi’s BLACK PEARL (Footstepsinthesand x Ella) stayed unbeaten at Al Rayyan Park winning his fourth straight outing. The Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki-trained gelding had last won the 1850m Qatar Derby under Eduardo Pedroza and on Thursday, the 4yo hit the turf yet again and picked up a second C&D victory in the six-furlong LOCAL THOROUGHBRED PLATE (4 Year Olds), following his debut win in April last year. Black Pearl won by one and a half lengths.

Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s DANEYAN (Shamardal x Dayita) got back to winning ways last month before finishing in the money two weeks ago. On Thursday, the Gassim Mohammad Ghazali-trained horse was back in the winner’s circle for the second time this season with Theo Bachelot guiding the 5yo to a fine victory in the THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (Class 3) (70-90) with a length and a quarter to spare.
