Euro area inflation rises

BRUSSELS, Jan 29 (KUNA) — The annual inflation in the 19-member euro area is expected to be 0.4 percent in January, up from 0.2 percent in December, according to figures released Friday by Eurostat, the EU statistical office.
It noted that the main components of euro area inflation services is expected to have the highest annual rate in January (1.2 percent, compared with 1.1 percent in December).
It is followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (1.1 percent, compared with 1.2 percent in December), non-energy industrial goods (0.7 percent, compared with 0.5 percent in December) and energy (minus 5.3 percent, compared with minus 5.8 percent in December). (end)
