EU proposes six principles to develop coop. with Turkey over mgration

BRUSSELS, March 16 (KUNA) — The European Commission proposed Wednesday six principles that should be applied to reach full potential for EU-Turkey cooperation to deal with the migration crisis.
The proposals were made ahead of Thursday’s EU summit and Friday’s meeting of the EU Heads of State or Government with the Turkish Prime Minister in Brussels.
The six principles included legal safeguards for the return of all new illegal migrants crossing from Turkey into the Greek island, resettlement scheme for the refugees, and accelerating the Visa Liberalisation Roadmap for Turkey.
They also include accelerating EU Accession Negotiations with Turkey, improving the humanitarian conditions inside Syria and speeding up the disbursement of the 3-billion euro fund under for the refugees in Turkey. (end)
