Erdogan, Abbas discuss planned Turkish-Israeli deal

ISTANBUL, June 26 (KUNA) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas by phone the details of the draft Turkish-Israeli deal on normalization of relations.
President Erdogan affirmed, during the conversation, initiated by him on Sunday evening, that the planned deal will have positive impacts on the life of the Palestinian residents in Gaza, according to Turkish presidential sources.
On his part, President Abbas expressed gratitude for Turkey’s care for the Palestinian question and its support to the Palestinian people.
The relations between Ankara and Tel Aviv worsened after the Israeli naval forces stromed a Gaza-bound six-ship aid flotilla, led by MV Mavi Marmara, on May 31, 2010, where nine Turkish citizens were killed. (end)
