Eighth Electric Car Charging Station in Qatar Launched

Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), represented by the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed), yesterday, inaugurated the 8th electric car charging station, which was established in co-operation with Siemens Qatar at Qatar Scientific Club.

The inauguration is a continuation of the first phase of the launch of electric car charging stations in Qatar as part of the green vehicles initiative to provide a clean, healthy and safe environment for future generations.

The initiative also coincides with Tarsheed missions, which is the reduction of harmful carbon emissions by 7% across all sectors in Qatar by 2022 according to the Second National Development Strategy 2018-2022.

On the occasion of the inauguration, Eng. Abdulaziz Al Hammadi, the Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department Manager in Kahramaa, said that this station is a continuation of the efforts of Kahramaa represented by the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed), for the preparation of the necessary infrastructure for electric vehicles in the country, where 400 stations are planned to be established in co-operation with the private sector by the end of 2022 in the context of encouraging electric and hybrid vehicles in Qatar.
