Ehsan to Organzie Alzheimers Awareness Walk Thursday

Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan), an affiliate of Ministry of Social Development and Family’s Qatar Social Work Foundation, will organize Thursday a walk to raise awareness of Alzheimers disease under the theme ‘Not too early, not too late’.

The walk focuses on the risk factors associated with the disease and ways to reduce them, trying to change the stereotypes about Alzheimer’s, and the importance of taking all precautionary measures to reduce its risks.

Ehsan’s Executive Director Fahad bin Mohammed Al Khayarin stressed the importance of community participation in raising awareness of this disease, with the number of people with Alzheimers is expected to reach three times the current number by the year 2050.

Al Khayarin said that Alzheimer’s is not classified as age-related disease and that there are many factors that fight the disease, including improving the quality of life, following some healthy practices in the early stages of life, and doing sports.

CEO of Rafeeq Company Abdullah Thamer Al Hemaidi said his company would continue partnerships with the state agencies to help the elderly.

Director of the CEO Office and Public Relations of Qatari Diar Ahmed Mohammed Al Sada expressed deep appreciation for Ehsan for its vital role in holding important social events and initiatives such as the Alzheimers Awareness Walk at Lusail Trail.
